On November 18, 2011, the 5^th China Guangzhou International Conference of Chinese Medicine was held in Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Higher Education Mega Center. 

During the conference, Mr. ZHONG Nanshan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Mr. WU Yilin, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Lin Jaung-Geng of China Medical University, Mr. Man Fong Mei, Vice Chairman of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Prof. Charlie Xue of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia and other 21 scholars and experts made speeches on scientific and clinical studies of modern Chinese Medicine, combined research of Chinese Medicine and multi disciplines, philosophy and methodology of traditional Chinese medicine, clinical application of Chinese Medicine classics, and development model and research progress of Chinese Medicine in Western countries.

Since 1981 when we celebrate the 35^th anniversary, we have held China Guangzhou International Conference of Chinese Medicine from time to time. This year is the 5^th session. The 5^th Conference is the biggest one in scale in our history with over 300 representatives from 20 countries and regions contributing 241 papers.

The 55^th China Guangzhou International Conference of Chinese Medicine is one of big events of our 55^th anniversary. This is a platform for communication and promotion. Through this platform, we hope to make extensive discussion and exchanges with our fellows on the topics of our common interest and also we would like to present our progress in the past years to all friends at home and abroad who always support the development of our university.
