The third cross-Strait Youth Festival—A Trip to Hunan and Guangdong , hosted by Central Committee of Communist Youth League of China (CYL Central Committee), Guangdong Provincial People's Government and Hunan Provincial People's Government, was held on August 26th at the Sun Yat-sen University. Secretary of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM) CPC committee Huang Bin assumed his responsibility as the head by request of CYL Central Committee. Over 500 Taiwan students from GUCM, Sun Yat-sen University and Jinan University, and100 Guangdong College Students attended the startup ceremony.
Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Lei Yulan and Deputy Secretary of CYL Central Committee Wang Hongyan gave their warm speeches at the ceremony. Lei Yulan introduced the achievements we had made in exchange and cooperation between Taiwan and Guangdong. Wang Hongyan expressed his ardent expectations on all the League Members and the cross-Strait Youth. Secretary of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine CPC committee Huang Bin took the flag of Communist Youth League of China from Wang Hongyan. Under the leadship of Wu Ziyi, a 07 master’s candidate of GUCM from Taiwan, the cross-Strait Youth sang the theme song together, which marked the beginning of a 6-day trip to Guangdong and Hunan.
In high spirits the cross-Strait Youth participated in the Adventure Training held at the Sun Yat-sen University, which enhanced them of the concept of collective consciousness and collaboration. After their visit to some enterprises in Shenzhen such as ZTE Group, the Students highly praised the great achievements that the motherland have made since its reform and opening up.
On August 29th, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Mei Kebao met Secretary Huang Bin and others who were in charge of this summer camp, and hosted a dinner banquet to welcome the cross-Strait Youth. In Hunan, the students paid a visit to the Yandi Ling, the Yuelu Academy, Yue Yang Tower, and had a get-together with students from Hunan University, Central South University and Hunan Normal University.
The Taiwan students from our university performed well in these rich and colorful activities. Wu Ziyi, a 07 master’s candidate , won Second Prize as well as the Most Popular Singer at the Song Contest, He Bingru and Wei Gengshu got the First Prize at the Star Volunteer Contest, and Lin Xuanheng won the First Prize at the Photography Contest and Wei Gengshu with the Excellence Awards. The Excellence Awards of Song Contest is given to 08 master’s candidate Chen Fangyi.
The activity enhanced the friendship and promoted a better understanding of cross-strait youth, having far-reaching significance in the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
