Professor XU Zhiwei, President of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine
Professor XU Zhiwei, male, born in June 1954 with the native place of Suyang City, Jiangsu Province, graduated from the Medical Care Department of Guangzhou TCM College (now Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine) in December 1977 and began teaching since then. In July 1985, he obtained Master’s Degree. From September 2002 to July 2005, he studied the part-time doctoral program of Internal Medicine of Chinese Medicine. From February to July 1987, he took the preparatory training for overseas study in Dalian Foreign Language College. From October 1987 to October 1989, he took advanced study in the Postgraduate College of Kobe University, Japan, designated by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China. From January to July 1993, he took the Central and South China educational administrators’ training organized by Ministry of Education in Central China Normal University. He took the advanced study of public administration course for the civil servants of the first session by Guangdong Province offered by Sun Yat-sen University and Oxford University from April to August 2002. Professor Xu worked as the Assistant Instructor, Instructor and Associate Professor of Basic Chinese Medicine Theory and Diagnostics and the Director of Public Lab of Basic Chinese Medicine Theory Section. In December 1997, he was promoted the Researcher and Doctoral Advisor and in July 2001 the Professor. He won the titles of South Guangdong Excellent Instructor, Excellent CPC Member of Guangdong Universities, etc. Now he works as the member of Science and Technology Committee of Ministry of Education, the 10th Life Science Section Expert Panel of Natural Science Fund and Science and Technology Awards Appraisal Committee of Guangdong Province.
In December 1975, Professor Xu joined the CPC and worked as the Vice Director and Vice Party Secretary of Basic Medicine Department in June 1993, Vice Director of Educational Administration Department in January 1994, vice Director, Director and Party Secretary of Postgraduate Department since November 1994, Vice President and Party Standing Committee member of the University since July 1999, and President and Vice Party Secretary of the University since April 2005.
